The little sister to the bigger Lunya on Hanover Street, Lunyalita is a smaller, more comfortable and homely tapas bar and deli. There is certainly more of a vibe towards the deli counter here, as compared with the restaurant ambience at the original Lunya. It’s that little bit different, with a focus on deli produce from all over the world, not just Catalan and Spanish food.

The Vibe

The beautiful Albert Dock setting makes for a relaxed atmosphere, with great food and amazing views. There is outside seating on both sides of the building, whether you want to look out at the Albert Dock itself, or at the Liverpool Wheel and Arena the other side of the deli. Inside there are some comfortable high-backed chairs and tables, as well as an extensive deli counter where you can choose food to eat today, or buy to take home with you. The staff are always very generous with their time, offering tips and personal favourites, whilst flying about making sure everyone is served. It is punctual and effective service at all times. There is also an upstairs restaurant, but the downstairs deli and bar is the relaxed place that you want to be.

The Food

The selection of Catalan breakfast dishes and an extensive brunch menu is different to other breakfast offerings around. The Catalan Migas is a particular favourite of the TiL team, consisting of chorizo, morcilla, and pancetta, with onion, garlic, and breadcrumbs, all fried together and topped with a poached egg. It certainly fires you up for the rest of the day. The sharing platters and sandwiches on offer throughout the day are pretty big and extensive, using the best of the deli counter in front of you, whilst the hot and cold tapas are everything you expect, with tasty small plates that are generous and high in quality. Perfect for sharing with a big table and ordering your calamari, fried chorizo, daily croquetas, and patatas bravas, alongside plenty of cured deli meats.

The Price

Daily specials can be bought for £6 or £7, sandwiches at lunchtime for around a tenner, with a massive selection of fillings to choose from, with most of the tapas items priced between a fiver and tenner. Lunyalita also have a range of platters that are perfect to share with others, and you can get these for anywhere between £8 and £20 depending on the choice of produce and size you are choosing.
