Inspired by a visit the owners took to the culinary delights of Paris, the first Maray restaurant opened on Bold Street in 2014, also now featuring a basement bar, while they have since opened further locations at the Albert Dock and one out of town in Allerton.
They’ve become known for both the quality of their food options and their cocktails. An ideal combination!
The Food & Drink
Offering a range of small plate dishes based around Middle East cuisine, Maray puts a lot of thought into helping you pair the ideal food and drink options to provide a truly memorable meal.
Their dish names are almost as creative as the flavours that go into them, with options such as Torched Broccoli and Disco Cauliflower able to catch the eye and satisfy the taste buds.
They provide some sumptuous meat dishes, with lamb kofta and lamb shawarma, as well as an excellent rump steak offering, particularly for its price level. As for fish, they provide very tasty options such as Cod Cheeks and Citrus Cured Trout that have made them one of the best fish dish options in the area.
They also offer some gorgeous dessert selections, with choices such as an Orange & Pistachio Chocolate Tart (the last time something was this orange and nutty it became the US President!) while the Cinnamon & Cardamom Rice Pudding will add a new spice dimension to that famous comfort dessert we all enjoyed as kids.

The Cost
Like many of Bold Street’s best options, they offer quality at a very reasonable price. All of their Mezze starters are in the £4-5 range, veggie dishes are all between £4 and £7, while even many of their meat and fish dishes are in the £6-9 range.
It’s quite possible for a couple to get mains and starters for under £25, leaving you room for a cocktail or two!

The Bottom Line
Whether you’re looking to stop off for a quick cocktail on the way to a night out, or spend an evening over a three or four course meal, Maray is definitely a great option to consider.
The fact that they’ve been able to offer three locations in under five years in such a competitive food scene is evidence that they’re doing something right, so it’s definitely worth a look for yourself.
